Miniatures

IMG_20220506_190009_edited.jpg

working in miniature is making precious things, something like building secrets. the miniature demands total concentration, precision and dexterity. it invites intimacy and innocence into our immense world and offers us tiny moments of control within its chaos.

the miniature hand-written books of the Bronte's are truly some of the most moving treasures i've seen; looking at them i re-discovered the preciousness and wonder of paper (how could i ever take such a noble material for granted?) the virtue of economy and the ecology of anti-consumerism.
