Work-in-progress..island-cells

Doodling on some A6 sheets of thick grainy handmade paper that was a recent gift...working with its texture, cardboard  and water to build relief, then shading and scoring around the raised areas with pencil and ink, incorporating tiny root systems from my garden...the drawings feel like strange islands spontaneously and organically appearing from a white uncharted map...land masses lifting from a colourless sea as if being viewed from a far off planet at quantam distance...or perhaps they are microscopic cellular images enlarged and out of scale...I'm making them in meditative mode...building a series using repetition, variation,  patterning....
